Happy First Anniversary!!!

Yesterday was our first anniversary! We had a really fabulous weekend together and did a lot of interesting things.

Friday we went out for dinner and checked out our local Borders to see if there were any good deals. J was sad because he's gone to that Borders since it opened, and it is the closest bookstore to our house. He also enjoys Borders more than Barnes & Noble. We got 2 magazines and a book (for me). Does anyone remember Sideways Stories from Wayside School ? I definitely bought the read-a-loud version and I'm hoping I can use it in my classroom soon!

Saturday we got up early and headed south. Our first stop was Rolling Ridge Ranch in Millersburg. I love animals, so when I got there and saw that I could hold ducklings, I was ecstatic! We went on a guided wagon ride that lasted about an hour through the park, stopping at various locations to feed the animals from provided food buckets. I took about 300 pictures, but I won't put them all on here!

The animals eat right out of your bucket, and some even try to steal the buckets!
They come so close! His antlers were soft and fuzzy.
I loved the mommy and baby zebra.
They had such a wide variety of animals!
This little duckling really liked me...
J even held the bunny!

After the animal park we went to a really great lunch at Chalet in the Valley, a cute Swiss/Austrian themed restaurant. J loved the outfit the waitresses wore and told me he'd buy me one! We also went to downtown Wooster and J found a great used bookstore, a rubbermaid outlet store, and a Hungarian pastry shop. We had a delicious cake that I am definitely going to have to learn how to make!

We also went hiking in Mohican State Park, looking for a waterfall, but we were sadly surprised when we found "Big Lyon Falls". It was a nice hike though, and we had a good time. We saw a presentation about birds of prey in Ohio and finally returned home after more than 13 hours of fun!
J & me enjoying our hike!
Can you see the water falling from the rocks? No? Are you sure....? It's right....there...Ok, I can't see it either. It IS there though...I promise!
Let's scale the side of this hill....really?
Literally pulling my way up the hill using that fallen tree...and some roots....
Oh...slippery rocks? Yes! Please! Don't worry...we both made it!

Later, J wanted to climb the fire tower. It was really tall!
But we made it to the top!
And there was a fabulous view!!

For gifts, J got me a Vera Bradley wallet that I'd been wanting for months and the cutest elephant stuffed animal (he definitely knows me!!). I made a framed photo collage of us over the past year, and got a gift certificate for a lesson at the local glass blowing studio. I'm really excited because the first anniversary is the paper anniversary and we are going to make paperweights!

My favorite part of the entire weekend was deciding to make a goal that we will work towards over the next year. This year, we've decided that we are going to tackle one home improvement project each month! We created the list, and I'm sure it will give me a lot to blog about.

Here's to many more years of wedded bliss!!
